
Soprano Laura Heydt-Adams has been thrilling audiences with her well rounded dramatic coloratura voice and dynamic stage presence throughout the Mid- Atlantic since relocating to York, PA in 2000.
Most recently she returned to the stage of Opera Lancaster as Musetta in Puccini's La Bohème. "Laura Heydt of York literally sparkled as Musetta and her aria Quando m’en vo was sung with panache!" - Lancaster New Era.
Other opera credits include Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata with Repertory Opera Theater of Washington in September 2009, Cunegonde in Candide, Lucy in The Telephone, The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, Parasha in Mavra, Belinda in Dido and Aeneas, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, the title role in Suor Angelica, Georgette in Il Tabarro, Juliette in Romeo and Juliette, Adina in The Elixer of Love, Despina in Cosi fan Tutte, and Monica in The Medium.
A native of York, PA, she performs regularly with opera companies in Central PA, and the Baltimore/Washington area, including in concert with the Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra, and the York Symphony.
In 2005 she received a B.A. in vocal performance from York College of PA. Laura continued her education at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria where she was a featured soloist with the AIMS Festival Orchestra. She has also participated in the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival in Fairbanks, AK and the Crittenden Opera Workshop in Washington, D.C. performing scenes from Lucia di Lammermoor, The Ballad of Baby Doe, Rusalka, La Traviata, and Don Giovanni. She can be see this summer as Kostanze in Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail with the Repertory Opera Theater of Washington.
Laura has studied with many prominent teachers and coaches in New York City, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. including John Darrenkamp, Dr. Jane Tavernier, Ruth Falcon, Elizabeth Vrenios, Michael Crabill, Patrick O'Donnell, Cindy Oxberry, JoAnn Kulesza, Roger Malouf, and Linda Anderson. She currently studies in NYC with Beth Roberts.
